Canteen furniture FAQs

Which canteen furniture is right for me?

Which canteen furniture is best for you will depend on several factors, including: who the canteen table and chairs are designed to be used by, how much space you have in your breakout areas, whether you need indoor or outdoor seating, what your budget is and what style you wish to go for. For example, if you need a canteen table and chairs for your office, you may consider executive seating or coloured plastic chairs to fit the theme of your business. On the other hand, if you need canteen furniture for a school, your priority may be choosing a canteen table and chairs which are easy to clean or stackable canteen chairs which are more versatile and space efficient

How much room do you need around a canteen dining table?

When choosing canteen furniture, it’s important to consider the amount of space you have so users have easy access and can sit comfortably. It’s recommended that you have approximately 30 inches between the canteen table’s edge and the obstruction (i.e. another canteen table and chairs or a wall).

Are dining benches comfortable?

Dining benches can be a great option for areas short on space as they can easily be tucked away under canteen tables and can seat multiple people. Here at Manutan, we have a range of seating options and whilst benches are a comfortable solution, they don’t usually have back support. With this in mind, we do sell canteen chairs (such as our stackable laminated stacking chairs) with waterfall front edges and shapely back rests which are designed to give the user added comfort.

How to choose chairs for canteen dining table

You should consider the needs of who will be using the dining table as well as what will be the most practical option when it comes to selecting canteen chairs. Consider the following to help you make your decision:

  • Does there need to be one or two way access?
  • Who will be using the canteen chairs and would back support be necessary?
  • Am I looking for indoor seating or outdoor furniture?
  • What is my budget?
  • Do they have anti-noise pads? (this could be important for quiet breakout rooms or areas with high traffic).
  • How much space do I have? (if you need a space efficient option, consider stackable canteen chairs or folding tables).
  • Will the canteen table and chairs be easy to wipe down? (this is particularly important for school and education environments or areas with high traffic.)

How big is a standard folding table?

We sell a range of folding tables which are available in different sizes depending on your requirements. As an example, our economy folding tables can be ordered with a depth between 610mm and 685mm and with a length of 915mm to 1830mm.

How to collapse a folding table

Folding tables are easy to collapse and stack away flat when not in use. The locking systems of folding tables may vary depending across manufacturers and models but generally, all you have to do is:

  1. Set the canteen table on its side
  2. Carefully fold the table’s legs back towards the underside of the table top
  3. Lock the clasps at both edges of the table to prevent the legs popping back out
